Stream LCD Soundsystem’s new music: “Call the Police” and “American Dream”

Yesterday James Murphy took to Facebook to provide some updates on LCD Soundsystem’s new music. You can view his abridged post above, click ‘see more’ for the full message. A few big takeaways from the post.

  1. Two new songs were released at midnight. I’ve embedded the two tracks below. The first is called “Call the Police.” Similar to All My Friends, this track builds throughout. I expect it to be a great track at live shows. The second song is called “American Dream.” It’s very LCD, just listen.
  2. The new album is nearly finished. Just a little more mixing and mastering to go. The biggest time snag is going to be pressing the vinyl copies of the album, which James insists on being available on the same day the album is released. I hope that it will be finished by the time I see LCD play later this summer.
  3. James also included some thoughts on playing live shows. It’s interesting to read the struggle between playing small and large venues. Thus far I’ve never seen a pure LCD show, only festival performances, but I’m sure that experience is amazing.

If you’ve made it this far and haven’t started streaming the music below, start now. It’s good. It’s LCD, so of course it is good. Stream.

On Hold by The XX

I attended Bonnaroo 2013, but I missed seeing The XX. Looking back, missing The XX is my biggest regret from Bonnaroo. Over the last few years, The XX have been mostly quite. That has all changed. The XX recently announced a new album (“I see you”) – coming out early next year – as well as the first tour dates for the corresponding tour. Moreover, they have released On Hold, the first track from the new album.

The sound is upbeat and modern. It’s different than other songs by The XX, but in a good way. It’s fresh and new, while keeping those familiar vocals front and center. I’m a big fan and can’t wait for “I see you” to be released in January.

Fitz and The Tantrums HandClap

In 2014, Fitz and The Tantrums became one of my favorite new bands. In fact, I saw them perform the same set twice that summer and enjoyed every moment of it. Their energy and lyrics kept me extremely engaged, in spite of my favorite song Tighter not being played. If you haven’t herd any of their music before, give a listen to their 2013 album More Than Just A Dream and I’m confident you’ll get on the bandwagon.

On June 10 of this year, Fitz will be releasing a new, self-titled album. I’m counting down the days. In the meantime, the first single from the Album — titled HandClap — was released today. Give it a listen below. I’ve listened to it about ten times through this writing. My initial impressions: extremely catchy, upbeat, and enjoyable. If the album flows from this track I’ll be incredibly pleased on June 10.

Check out the current 2016 tour dates if you are enticed.
