Stream LCD Soundsystem’s new music: “Call the Police” and “American Dream”

Yesterday James Murphy took to Facebook to provide some updates on LCD Soundsystem’s new music. You can view his abridged post above, click ‘see more’ for the full message. A few big takeaways from the post.

  1. Two new songs were released at midnight. I’ve embedded the two tracks below. The first is called “Call the Police.” Similar to All My Friends, this track builds throughout. I expect it to be a great track at live shows. The second song is called “American Dream.” It’s very LCD, just listen.
  2. The new album is nearly finished. Just a little more mixing and mastering to go. The biggest time snag is going to be pressing the vinyl copies of the album, which James insists on being available on the same day the album is released. I hope that it will be finished by the time I see LCD play later this summer.
  3. James also included some thoughts on playing live shows. It’s interesting to read the struggle between playing small and large venues. Thus far I’ve never seen a pure LCD show, only festival performances, but I’m sure that experience is amazing.

If you’ve made it this far and haven’t started streaming the music below, start now. It’s good. It’s LCD, so of course it is good. Stream.

All My Friends by LCD Soundsystem

I was at Lollapalooza a few weeks ago. As I’ve mentioned before, I love music festivals. I’ve attended governors ball, Okeechobee, and Lollapalooza this year, with mostly likely more on the horizon for 2016. One headliner that dominated festival lineups this cycle was LCD Soundsystem. To be honest, when I first saw LCD at the top of Coachella lineup I was disappointed. Who are these guys? How are they headlining? I’ve never herd of them. That was all a mistake.

As I learned in my preparation for Lolla, LCD Soundystem is amazing. Their music is unique and fun. The lyrics are catchy and the music itself is exciting. I recommend checking out their entire song catalog, but I have to share my favorite LCD song: All My Friends. This might be a perfect song. It builds up, it’s so easy to dance to, and it makes you wonder where your friends are tonight. If you don’t know LCD, please give this song a few listens. It took me several listens to get into it, but I’m so glad I did.
